The sliver of light came pouring in
The witching hour then chimed on the clock,
Birth of shadows, the children of sin
Marching in time with the tick and tock. 

I lied in bed, my gaze impaled
The dancing shadows slinking through,
Rising like from a secret vale,
The magic nightly born anew.

Each second passed, a sin did too
Every dancer a memory wore,
Then dawn arrived as if on cue
For eyes to close and soul to snore.
