A Garden Escape
Just beyond my garden fence lies a country, unexplored. Just past my garden boundary sleeps a land of mist and more. I peek above my garden parapet and gaze into the din, And yearn to ensue an emprise welling from within. As I pass the narrow compass of my garden, safe and sure, I venture for the world beyond, And seek its Delphic allure. And when I turn to see the path and the distance that I've come, I notice that my garden was not but an asylum overrun.
