The Fool

The people all said, as they looked at the fool, 
"Why are you crying and feeling so blue? 
"You should have known that someone like you 
"Could never be loved by someone so cool!" 

He stood there and thought of the words they just said 
And he knew they were right as he lowered his head. 
What was he thinking as he turned shades of red? 
It seems that his confidence was sorely misled. 

The fool turned his back on the laughing crowd, 
As he walked away their jeers rang loud. 
His shame and his sorrow did not leave him proud. 
His eyes filled with tears as his head sadly bowed.
