Happy In The Sadness
So many times I drew you near A hug to cover what's in my heart Hiding all the worry and fear Of how you will survive without me You never see past the end of the day You don't understand, my family's history Of cancer, heart disease, and dementia Will one day com and take me away, Today is different, as you both smile so nice While leaving to go about your day and not thinking about the snow and ice, I realize I am happy in the sadness Of knowing, finally, you don't need me.
