My Poetry Forum

This PHP/MySQL based website has been created with the purpose of providing a warm, personalized and user-friendly environment where people can discuss and exchange their poetry. I have tried to find a good balance between simplicity and functionality, by discarding unnecessary complexity.

I believe that good poetry is fundamentally a verbalization of the human experience and search for truth. Because of it's nature I believe that the underpinnings of poetry hold a great amount of wisdom. It is therefore with pleasure that I provide a service to further the interest of anyone exploring English verse.

The site allows users to submit their own poetry, each poem which it submitted costs 400 credits. Credits are gained by rating and commenting on the work of other users, 100 credits for each contribution. New users start with 300 credits. All poems are rated on a 5 star scale, and can additionally be given a nomination in order for that poem to be added to the MPF listings. The 25 users with the highest credit ratings are added to a special listing and can have one of their poems displayed on the front page. Users are also given a unique profile and the ability to request other user's opinions regarding one of their own poems. Users have full control over any of their submissions and may delete or modify them at any time. There is also a bulletin board fascility where users can communicate accross the forum.
