If and only if


if we extend our hands
feather touch of our fingers
can generate light;
electricity can run through our hearts:
if the problems are shared
between you and me
their burdens arelightened;

only if we realize
and extend our hands
the problem of many can be solved;
the night of ignorance
harrowing poverty
may dawn into a day
of prosperity and happiness
