What They Fought For

14 Mar 2011

Boffin
Symphony's whispers tread lightly behind me
Currents of bullets sway at my feet
Head between mists of arrows
Here I stand before a cloud of dreams and aspirations
Torn between hemispheres of sound
Dancing my fingers across bronze badges
Country colours stroke the cold wind
Nestled in my pocket lay fathers before me
Bullets lay behind glass with nothing to say
They fought for my freedom and my breath
It's time I dedicate my tears to their blood
Footprints linger where bodies lay to rest
Tear stained letters flying over sea shores
As the crescent moon boomerangs its way across the ocean
And as letters were like bullets to crying widows
Some say the oceans were formed by mothers tears
As burrows became grave sites
Where badges became names
And where countries were worlds
Thats where they stood for our victory
Battle lines were erased when we became free
Never forget this unstained courage.
