Eyes of Velvet Brown

20 Aug 2012

TheNightShift
I met you on the bridge of sighs
With tears in your brown velvet eyes
I gave you hope when there was none
But after all was said and done
You’d fooled me with your lies
I took you to my country home
And soon my love for you had grown
But when I had fulfilled your need
You cut me down and watched me bleed
Then left me all alone
I found you in another town
Just like before your luck was down
You’d such a sorry tale to tell
As once again the teardrops fell
From eyes of velvet brown
A woman’s tears are hard to bear
I could not leave you standing there
And as we walked into the night
The full moon’s incandescent light
Was shining in your hair
Things were so perfect for a while
With eyes of velvet brown you’d smile
I thought a lesson you had learned
This time my trust would not be spurned
But that was not your style
One night I held you close to me
You said that nothing comes for free
And this time you had gone too far
By acting like the whore you are
The one you’ll always be
But now I’m rid of you for good
As deep inside the pine tree wood
With eyes of velvet brown you stare
Unseeing in the cold night air
Laid in a pool of blood
