Mercy

fist closed over a sun so cold
painting a cloud's haze over the old,
dried ink beating in my slow heart
the bare Requiem of Mozart
lays quiet on my hands
his lonely sounds, poised to start

bitten skin and misshapen bliss
written into an impolite kiss
ruined veins thick with sin
daylight has never been so wrong,
falling over your wide grin

blue bruising hit
what i can't admit
do you know?
say no

fireproof, unchanged, undone
broken, twisted, snapped
tired blood on your gun

eyes close slowly, head burning
cooled dusk and the dark is churning
kyrie eleison, my vivid yearning

dripping down from your thoughtless skies
gently, languidly turning
say "i love you", apologize
red-soaked lies

the ground reaches out and i fold
