Distraught and Bitter Am I ........
An icy wind lashes my face - Can no-one hear my cry? I struggle and battle in despair - Confused, distraught and bitter am I. My fingers are numbed by a freezing blast I shuffle along the street; Christmas-past haunts me now - Then so happy; my life complete. Christmas lights sway and flash No more I find goodwill; By fireside, cosy, drink in hand - Out of the winter-wind so chill. With heads bowed low, shoppers rush past A wretch ignored, reviled; Family round the Christmas tree, In peace and joy reconciled. I trudge and stumble through the slush Bowed - my hood pulled low; My children, I see – they laugh and play, So happy in the fireside glow. Shop fronts gleam with Christmas warmth, I struggle now so cold and wet; Warm and drowsy in my chair, I sit, relaxed and blessed, and yet…. I knew not then my life to come, With my wife no longer be; As I leave I stand and wave, I knew not life’s decree. In a doorway now I lie - What is left for me? Back I lie and close my eyes, And weep and weep for thee……

Love creativity - especially writing - poems especially. Love my wife, cats, our church, reading, warm weather (so rare here!) and snow - quite common these days - even in spring....
