Observing the universe from the couch
I sat down to focus my view and get a better glimpse of a swirling world The constant rotation, and the gravitational pull, did wonders for my circulation The sofa enveloped me and I drowned in its faux-leather skin and we became a single unit A hybrid Part animate Part inanimate But fully cognizant Next to me, the Ikea lampshade called for my attention as she danced in her thin, crumpled-paper dress Her bulbous heart bounced along with her swaying moves, changing color from red to orange to green then blue And while she danced, whispered to me of ages passed I tried real hard to listen But the whispers were drowned out by the talking passengers, in the hollow airplane, flying miles above, by the neighbors cat playing hide and go seek with the sewer rat, by the drumming of my intrigued heart, reverberating incessantly for colors, for dreams, for mystics, for things unseen The crumpled-paper lampshade saw my willingness to explore and understand She asked about my fears I told her I had none She put on a display of things that have been forgotten Caesar’s anguished cries drowned out by the curses of the senators, echoing throughout the theatre of Pompey The last glimpse of light he ever saw was the ruby twinkle in the hungry eyes of Brutus De Sade screaming from the Bastille and the final victorious hours of the French revolution I was so close I could smell the gunpowder rising from the thumping muskets Navahos and Apaches riding side by side Their faces and heads decorated with war paint and feathers Spearing wild beasts and scalping strange looking immigrants Keeping hides and skin as itchy mattresses and wallpaper The Kennedy brothers assassinated by aliens in shiny shoes The hits being triangulated between the East, the West and the moon After which, a homogeneous black cloud distorted earth and erased all memories I was presented with my own birth and life, and all that led me to the crumpled-paper lampshade And how I’d been waiting for this moment my whole life And never imagined it would be so scenic that it would make me smile and shed a tear at the same time Suddenly the air turned into thick honey under my tongue And at the end of it all, everything that I saw blended into one universal human being Faceless Sexless Fearless Limitless Just an organic being Floating between the galaxies Beating all odds Finally, the light changed to white and I had to look away ‘Lets grab a drink,’ a voice said And we did - Poetry & Rum Now on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Poetry-Rum-Sean-S-Attariani-ebook/dp/B079Q7N815/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1518802936&sr=1-1&keywords=poetry+and+rum Follow my instagram page: A.Poem.For.A.Drink for updates and promotions
