My Cats Like .....

My cat likes –
To sleep in boxes small and snug,
So cute a ball of furry fluff;
She loves to doze upon a rug,
But brother thinks that she’s a scruff.

My cat likes –
To perch on printer, head held high,
Sublime he looks, so profound;
And on the world he keeps his eye,
In charge of all he sees around.

My cat likes –
To chat and purr, so pleased is she,
She thinks she’s been there, seen it all;
Around the world she’s walked so free,
And now she says “It’s not so small!”

My cat likes-
To guard his garden on patrol,
Who dares to enter his domain?
He zaps all creatures weird and small,
A fearsome spider? Such disdain!

My cat likes –
To walk along the street unbowed -
The rest of the world she knows so well;
Atop the garden walls so proud
She struts – so happy – I can tell!

My cats like –
To sleep and stretch - so warm and snug,
In room above the lawn so green,
In cardboard boxes, on the rug,
And under printer-desk - unseen.

My cats –
So sleepy,
So loving,
So soft,
So purring,

Huh!
So hungry…..

Now they want their lunch…….

This poem was written in an idle moment or two having been struck by
my cats' understanding (and mine) of what was going on around them – one, for example, loves being taken, using a harness, for a walk along our street and scampering on any brick walls that come her way, all the time saying how much she enjoys it…… Ah well, I suppose I should have better things to do……

It is not meant to have a great deal of literary merit!

Love creativity - especially writing - poems especially. Love my wife, cats, our church, reading, warm weather (so rare here!) and snow - quite common these days - even in spring....
