Nightscapes: Permeating Darkness
What awaits when you close your eyes to sleep But darkness, near, and infinitely deep; Where nightmares are born, before you nod: Whence you're whisked away into unknown realms, Foreign worlds so aptly demonized in youth, For their power to shatter all sense of calm, That rip you from the sanctity of mind, And drop you headlong into labyrinths, Rife with terrors, and unspeakable fears, Grappling with the fact that you know nothing. And, all you know to help you ease your mind, Is you can pray to God to help you through, When light cannot be found, except within, And you can turn your heart back from the void.
