The Chessboard of Life...
Pieces moved across a flat board - a metaphor, surely... with some of us pawns ( the majority, maybe) and very few kings. And this is symbolic both historically and personally while the board is our arena- ( place of play) wether it represents the whole world, a nation, neighborhood, or mere dwelling. The goal is strategy, survival, moving forward- to get inside the opponent's head... - all so militaristic, tactical, the rules are direct and stark... It is a play and counterplay - like fencing. So what of the philosopher's idea, " just be?" Somehow it's been lost in the scurrying and struggle.
