After the Rain
So easy to stand in the pouring rain And let my tears flow at their will But where do I go with this heart-breaking pain When the sun shines on tears as they spill? And how do I go on with my life again When He took you but I need you still? How do I face every long, lonely day? Every road is wrong, there are none right I spin round and round, wish you’d show me the way Still my thoughts are as black as the night While I dare not put everything out on display You are there in the poems I write There is no way of getting to where it began (Though sometimes I wish it had not) And if we are all part of some heavenly plan Was your leaving just part of the plot? Then perhaps I should thank God for taking my man And my blessings I lately forgot It's after the rain that I fall to my knees Try to hold back the tears as I pray "My Lover is now in your hands, if you please And I'm missing him each lonely day But I know that you took him quite simply for he's A saint in his funny old way"
