Night
Duplicitous deceiver, two-faced fraud, you promise to envelop us in soothing serenity, rock us gentle with cooling breezes, kiss us to sleep like a doting new mother, but in your power is to lead us to traps set by gargoyle demons privy to dark secrets of our souls, lurking by day, unleashed to roam under your watch, and as we lay ourselves down to sleep we wonder which of those faces you might show.
