Icarus Redux

Jaybird
Say hey, Icarus,
what’s your claim to fame?
You flew too high,
too close to the sun,
and for this
you made your name?
A mere miller you are,
a reality star,
you got singed
by the flame
‘cause you soared too far.
And now,
earthbound,
we heed you,
try to exceed you,
but no one
remembers our name.
Some role model you are,
fly as high as we can,
kiss the sun,
nobody gives a damn
as we plummet to earth
a burned out shell
headed for hell,
and you remain the man.
