It must be the moon
lying in bed late at night lying in bed holding you tight but whose face is that in the window the question leaves me in limbo a voyeur or thief, which could it be lurking outside for something to see he seems to smile he likes our style as he gazes at us, two lovers I glare and pull up the covers he continues to stare what parts are left bare you’re cuddled close, there’s nothing to see surely he’s not interested in someone like me I crane my neck, I’ll not be shy I’ll have no fear of this mysterious guy I’ll see who he is and call the police and hold you again and never release he seems to have gone, where can he be I move close to the window, better to see there he is in the west, big and yellow bright but never a dangerous fellow he’s sinking now but he will return for a love like ours he’ll forever yearn he bids us adieux and smiles at us too he’d like the night not to end and his love he will send he’s neither voyeur nor thief he’ll cause us no grief and if he wants to come back he can join the pack as he leaves he’s humming a tune I can see now it must be the moon
