To a Flower, Dying
Comfort, take comfort as green leaves crumble and brown, your life being taken by thieves. Handmaidens chose you for the Queen, for whom you stood out, the first to be seen. And your aroma, the glorious scent that was for your rivals cause for lament. Recall too how you burst from the earth, eager for life, celebrating your birth. And as you grew do you remember the rain, so sweet on your petals, your first courtly swain? Or the soft summer breezes that caused you to dance, bestowed kisses upon you in a fine romance? Yes, your end approaches as summer becomes fall, but take heart, recall those days, those days when you were all. So hold onto your memories as the end nears, make it a happy time, not cause for tears.
