The stranger
You sit there in your car Talking on your phone You don't even see me Standing all alone. I've been here all day Waiting patiently Not asking much Just a helping hand My feet are sore and burning From standing on the tar My scars are raw and bleeding I won't get very far. If only you could see me And show me sympathy I won't need to stand here Till the light goes away. I don't have a family Or someone who really cares I am just a nobody With many hopes and fears My eyes only show sorrow and pain Something you wouldn't understand, so why should I explain? I long for salvation To save me from this life It has been so long That I ever slept through the night While, you sleep soft and warmly Not wondering what you'll eat Or where you'll be tomorrow I slowly cross the street. My legs are feeling shaky My feet are sore and red I have a few cents in my pocket To buy a piece of bread All I'll drink is water While you buy yourself a coke You'll have toasted cheese sandwiches While I'll just sit and choke.
