Benadam's Challenge
Benadam's Challenge by Bombadil...Number 2 in Immortals Series This earth is gift to mortal men by Heaven spake decree as recompense for loss incurred by eating from the tree, no barriers were set save one, the gate to Paradise, and even that must open wide whene'er a mortal dies. Too long false gods tormented men before we learned their names and gained the power to refuse to play Valrou’hain's games. Now men will take their rightful place as stewards of this world, no peak remains but yours unclaimed by human flags unfurled. My sword is forged from fallen stars, immune to your control that now must face the strength of will that dwells in mortal souls; my shield is doubly tempered too, by blood and fire combined, and armour worn to fit my task to claim Arcanis' mines. Inheritance now claimed of all created by my Lord and title sought by force of arms - by helmet, shield and sword; learn well the name of he who comes to try Valrou’hain blades, Benadam I, whose noble sire once dwelt in Eden's glades. Valrou’hain magic quickened you in parody of life and for that crime 'twixt gods and men will lie eternal strife; so spare me hubris' taunts and jeers, prepare instead for flight, for I intend to sleep within your hidden halls tonight. I did not write this poem but was given permission from the author, Bombadil to post it here.
