The Chill
The chill is creeping in, I feel it in my bones, lost summer lushness, leaves fall from trees, crackling dry and brown. Out in the shrouded waters it is your smile I see, soft lips filling, freezing, exploding, sharp shards slashing all they touch. I turn to run away as icy fingernails leave hot streaks on my arm trying to pull me back. I tumble into a cavern and sleep and will emerge and be greeted by an earth green again and that smile that sustains me, warm once more.
