clay

We appear, pink, globulous
a fleshy clay molded over time into dimpled mounds
and valleys
Smoothed by many hands and gouged by fingers
until we fit a shape pleasing to the eye,
with a soft sonorous voice,
like water in a stream,
cold and unfeeling.
