CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY
*
He remembered the day
it all came down.
The thought struck his mind,
like a rocket going off.
*
While others would dream
ofnoble pursuits,
he would compromise all
toput on that suit
*
He put on a suit,
That he wore for the world.
The suit of conformity,
and self-righteous fools.
*
His battles were fought
behind a bigdesk.
while his own hopes and dreams,
had beenlong laid to rest
*
He held secret dreams,
he would never pursue,
for the almighty dollar,
was all that he knew
*
the things he would do
he knew they were wrong
but for the sake of that profit
he would let it go on
*
Acompromised value,
a look the other way,
it all became easier
eachtimethat he played
*
With morality breeched,
his guilt was absolved,
there wasn’t a problem,
that couldn't besolved……..
*
The once pristine beaches,
that now lay in ruins,
as the once thriving life
liesblack on the dunes.
*
Whole people’slivelihoods
were now non-existent,
with peoplereduced
to begging like peasants
*
He saw repercussions,
It hit a raw nerve
Like the future Ghost of Scrooge
he got whathe deserved!
*
They said he was missing
and not been seen since
Left a note on his desk
That he’s taking a rest.
*
Drove his Porsche off a cliff
and stripped himself bare.
doused himself with gas
settingfire to his hair.
*
Though some sit and wait
for their judgment day,
There are times,that for some,
that'sjust too far away.
*
He’d rather end it now,
as a virtual unknown
than to spend all the rest,
being hated and scorned.

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry....
