Take Me To Valhalla (A Villanelle)

O great Odin! God of war and poetry,
send your valkyries to raise me from this field.
Let me fight in your battle prophets all foresee.
I die with valor, my spirit give to thee.
In Valhalla mortal wounds will all be healed.
O great Odin! God of war and poetry,
your eye lost to Mimir under the magic tree,
lend me the power and wisdom that you wield.
Let me fight in your battle prophets all foresee.
Father of Thor, mightier even than he,
your fated spear breaks every battle shield.
O great Odin! God of war and poetry,
whose ravens flew to you and spoke of me,
that I was brave, fought well and never kneeled.
Let me fight in your battle prophets all foresee.
Let me prove worthy to share eternity,
to feast forever. Let my fate be sealed.
O great Odin! God of war and poetry,
let me fight in your battle prophets all foresee.
