No Warmth

The sun casts light on this broken being
Seeing dawn, but feeling no warmth
Stuck fast in solitude's echoing cell
And wondering what all of this is for
Nothing of value inside of me
Just a shattered, meaningless soul
I scream out loud to anyone
But the silence swallows me whole

I write these words down on a page
That no one's eyes will see
For this cell lets no one out or in
There is only, and will always be me
The sun disappears from the cold blue sky
And dusk resumes its watch
Seeing night again, and feeling no warmth
In solitude's web, I am caught
