what's this red
hiding under all your excuses and abuses,
of anything and everything
connected to me

was I a fool to expect
this to last forever,
was I naive to believe
you felt that way, too

and more than a feeling
wasn't it our deal,
aren't commitments honored
when two hearts abound

love is a treasure
so precious and rare,
why soil what we have
with anger and lies

how can you believe them
when they're all in your head
running rampant and raucous
with each negative tailspin,
and tailspin is where we're headed
if this doesn't stop soon
