Rainy Days

Awareness cypher through
white noise drone of air-con
soft keyboard chatter vie
with rain splattering outside
on window, paving and awning

Somewhere a voice drone on
dampened by a closed door
while rain water runs noisily
splashing freely and with abandon
on grateful earth, tree and bush

Stepping outside, breathing
fresh, clean and crisp air
grey pregnant sky drops
wet glistening kisses
on my warm upturned face

In wistful anticipation of
freshly baked bread
hearty home styled soup 
perhaps cinnamon pancakes
or snuggled up with hot chocolate

Alas, realisation of time
glancing up at the office clock
sets me straight back to work
All in good time
