Sonnet for Sheila
Such storms as ships do meet Poseidon's bed, High tempests as do render branch from tree; Each battles vainly 'gainst the silken thread In which a steel-like strength holds tenderly. Like heaven's deluge sweeping through a town, A fire as might devour a forest tall; Behold such forces yield and whither down In front of that which seems ethereal. Against the strain of words through judgement poor, Hot-tempered thoughts or actions most unsound, A force remains that holds a bond so sure, Kept keen despite such turmoil all around. Undone the strands of love will be never be; E'er not will strife divert my heart from thee.
