potholes

i used to come through
and avoid that one;

others not so bad,
some nearly as much-

you can only bottom out
so many times

before you remember
how you were rattled.

but then they came through
and patched 'em up,

and all that's left
are the scars in the road,

the patched-up potholes,
tho much easier to handle.
