Vanessa in Moonlight
She wore the moonlight like a robe, Opulent, with a sparkling sheen, Irresistibly alluring, Feeling like a majestic queen. Bathed by seven silver moonbeams It seemed a luminescent glow Emanated from four fragile wings, Dusted, like purest powder snow. Beautiful red and black markings Were consumed by the flooding light That descended from the heavens On she who trespassed into night. For the few moments it lasted, Her great joy could not be contained; Heaven took on a special glow Which faded, leaving wings tear-stained. Red Admiral Butterfly (Vanessa Atalanta)
