She carried him
She carried a baby on her back Hunched back as she was She carried him His legs dangled low Below her waist Yet she carried him The enraged sun pierced her wrinkled skin Till her pores wept the tears her eyes have cried dry Yet still , She carried him His open mouth drooled in milky white stains The apologies he could no longer utter. A grown man,on his mama's back Weighing no more than he did When she carried him in her womb His protruding eyes stared at the world slowly passing by As his mama's footsteps rocked him like a newborn While she carried him The dust under her feet rose, rose to her face And reminded her that dust shall yet again return to dust Yet she carried him like he still had years to spare under her care. She carried him home till the sun began to set. Till the sun began to set in his life And left no moon to shine through the sadness in her heart A grown man, on his mama's back Weighing no more than he did When she carried him in her womb Yet now she wept. Wept like a mama Giving birth To a stillborn
