Easy To Say
Easy To Say How do I speak with my foot in my mouth? Is it something I learned as a youth? To say what I’m thinking without even blinking can be crueller than cloaking the truth. Why do I talk before thinking things through? History's taught me where that path can lead. I empty my heart and my senses depart; tact deserts me with indecent speed. When will I ever start holding my tongue, maybe listening once in a while? I’d button my lip and abandon the quip if my temper were less volatile. So, lucky am I that I know how to say the one word that most people dread. It cannot be put with my mouth round my foot but I say "sorry" later instead.
