Less Alone
This is one of my rambling, convoluted maybe-not- even-a-poem poems, but I wanted to submit it to express how I feel about writing and how grateful I am for all who dare to commit thoughts and words to print--especially to leave them out in public where they will be read by others! (i.e. for everyone here on the forum!) Less Alone Born into a time, a writer is a life moving through a brief time in history. With a common, yet unique perspective, a writer becomes a silent voice in print. Reaching out from heart, mind and all the senses— but most hopefully from the common senses, a writer becomes a voice from that time in history, having that history in common with many others. Some of those others, considered common, yet each one is extraordinary, are busy living: working, loving, struggling, playing, fighting, and dying, and hoping to be remembered. But often they can’t speak for themselves or leave many of the treasures of their voices for the generations that follow. Yet one writer can’t speak for all, so he or she speaks from self to any who may notice that silent voice in print— any who may read, listen, and hear— And perhaps notice and see more of the common but extraordinary aspects of themselves and of other common but extraordinary people— And perhaps see something new in the common things around us and in the things we all have in common and sometimes overlook. And—as a writer feels less alone while communicating, even to unseen strangers— perhaps some of those others who read will feel less alone, And also feel—most hopefully— very much more uncommonly worth remembering.
