poisoned love

14 Dec 2004

leigh
a strychnine coated pill
laced with sweetness
passed lovingly with kindness and concern
to the incapacitated invalid
who asks for nothing more
than love and respect
caustic cynatic words
laced with sweetness
dripping violent tomes of love
described as anguish and pain
all in the name of betrayal
years of sweetness
laced in verbal abuse
spirit of thought and freedom
having taken flight
leave behind a wretched soul
wandering in ever enclosing circles
searching for the elusive
ingredient required to complete
the recipe for self esteem
external search reverts to internal
mental anguish begins
as the fragments of
the ancient soul
borne within awakens
to join forces with the
physical shape it inhabits
elusivity derides both sides
time bears witness
to the crumbling facade
as foundations are shaken
structural faults appear
as the years of love
camouflaged by strychnine
coated sweetners
combine to create
a toxic reaction
poisoning the very soul
it should be nourishing
there is a solution
to this toxic pollution
it comes in the form
of a tablet laced with
sweetness of the purest kind
labelled self esteem
