I’d like to see the sunrise though I’ve had so little sleep, I’ve seen enough sunsets, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. I sit here now, a zombie alone in the dark, eyes focusing on the east, awaiting that divine spark. Five minutes now until the sun creeps over the horizon, dawn, the sky palette is being washed clean, a lone cat sits in the yard, I yawn. The magic moment has been reached, a fiery coal looms through the trees, night’s lock has been opened once more, the day has found the keys. A burst of pink, blue, and aqua again paints the sky, my mind rides the wispy gray clouds, another day of life before I die.
