A Child Abandoned
I saw a child sitting on the curb of a crowded street Tears in his eyes as he knew not what laid ahead No one taking the time to stop and lend a helping hand People just walked by and never acknowledged him. His face crusted with the dirt and the sweat of his body No one dared to approach him or try to console him He was an untouchable and an undesirable little man Who had no place to lay his head or no one to care for him Many children are left to fend for themselves in society With no one to give them the love and nurturing they need Some parents have chosen drugs over their own children These parents have vices that are more important to them. So the children are then left out in the street all alone Others left with people who don't really care for them Grandparents take them in and can't care for themselves Kinfolks think that they can care for them but quickly give up. We are the greatest nation in the world, at least that's our belief But yet we can't take care of the children that are abandoned and hurt We preach and teach about compassion but do we really care? Love is not only something we talk about but it is an action we display.
