A Child Would Made a Man
From my mother’s lips came the truth of this child’s world Like snow falling from a frozen cloud, Melting into nothing like a promise made of air That no breath of care or love became endowed. From my father’s lips came the truth of this child’s life That a word of understanding failed to see, Silent and abetting giving space for what was lost That love in a child would never be. And from me with saddened lips comes a sigh For what has gone Sorrow tears for those who lost their way, That they had only given their smallest little care, This child would made a man their love repay.
