A Cry, a Child, a Teen, and a Voice

It starts with a cry, A sound that makes a mother’s heart yearn, From a newborn that has been unseen for 9 months. Year by year the newborn becomes a child, Maybe a child who is smart, A child who has potential, A child who has all the friends, Or a child who has had to grow up when she’s not ready, Now time has taken its’ toll, The child isn’t a child anymore, The child is now a teen, Like most teens do, The teen became one that fell in love. The high school sweethearts grew close, They grew happier, They even grew into compassionate people inside and out, And their hearts grew fond of this thing they called love, Then they sprouted into husband and wife, And when they had their first born, They heard that little cry. Since time stops for no one, Their child had grown up too, And they had a child or two of their own. They first heard cries coming from their newborns, But the next from themselves, Their heart now yearns for a voice, The voice from a person so close, The voice from someone that has been there, The voice that comforted them, The voice that was there thick through thin, The voice that wouldn’t want them to be crying, This voice would want them to keep on living their lives, This voice would want them to know that they are in a better place, This voice would want them to keep in mind that they are watching over them, And in deed this voice is starting a new life waiting for that little newborn to join them once again, Then they can cry tears of joy together.

I am young. I have been hurt. And I just noticed that I'm not half bad at writing poems. (:
