A Dream to Fly
With nothing that could stop you, From this future it would seem, You made a plan and set a goal, And yearned to live a dream, To dance among the puffy clouds, You dreamt to one day fly, Explore the sights, and city lights, As viewed from in the sky. A little girl in Florida, you’d sit out by the beach, As you’d look up to the sky you loved that just was out of reach. Your parents were supportive, Of your aerial ambition, You moved to Colorado, For a path towards a Commission, A Lieutenant in the Air Force, You would finally learn to fly, To dance at ease, among the breeze, While soaring through the sky. A cadet in Colorado, out your window you would stare, As you dreamed about the fun you’d have while flying through the air. Then moving down to Texas, You would start your formal training, Just one more step to conquer, From the goals you had remaining, And I guess now you have earned your wings, With angels you will fly, With god above, and all our love, You soar through heaven’s sky. In Arlington, Virginia, I have come to stand alone, You’re more to be remembered than a marble slab of stone.
