A Family Affair
hoeing and thinning beets a migrants life not so sweet we were young and full of energy How can I erase all that memory? my parents would call it a summer vacation to get away from this SouthTexas hot location we didn't know any better so we believed it drove1500 miles north, daring, I must admit. while on the road for 24 hours or maybe more we had to stop because our legs got sore it was 10 of us in a 2 door Ford Fairlane car we barely fit, uncomfortably because it was far. when we got to our destination in Sabin, Minnesota, we were very near to North and South Dakota. our hoes were new and needed some sharpening the next day we got ready and hit the fields running. the life of a migrant was somewhat exciting, to spend time together and do my writing. it was nice to have all the family there in the end we just had a great family affair.
