A Flight of Failure?

Stained by past indulgence in so many passing glances, I catch a glimpse of heaven through tired eyes; now, efforts must triple. Her smile and her eyes’ twinkle...teasing, tormenting, entrancing. Doubt dare not show in the presence of such confident beauty. One wink from her would see me sitting old and grey with my dream by my side....instead of alone and mortified by the humiliation of gentle decline? But alas, anxiety sends indecision surging through my veins – my destiny arrested by a mislead ego; this vision turned powerless because pride fears rejection. Wondrous possibilities excite my imagination one minute...a word from her might change the path of this man's life. Yet silence, once golden, becomes the jailer keeping any chance in chains. Hope fizzles into regret on a bumpy runway. Courage was not found, and this will haunt my thoughts for years to come. What inspiration though, to catch a glimpse of heaven on the flight back home.
