A Gift of Joy

A Gift of Joy! A welcome cry, a high pitched scream; Was it true, or a hazy dream? A baby girl to my surprise! Her hair was red she had blue eyes. Porcelain cheeks with a touch of rose, Tight little fists hanging on to my clothes. Two little feet, with ten tiny toes. A pale pink pout and a small round nose. She had five brothers, waiting at home. I had a head of hair to comb. Ruffles and bows, Ruffles and bows, My heart was so joyous; nobody knows! Daddy’s sweet angel, so full of love, Squawking and walking, a gift from above. And each joyous minute of every day, My heart jumped with gladness to watch her at play. I am a Registered Nurse.. I have loved writing for as far back as I can remember. My first writing was experienced by drawing as a child. In 7th grade I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln that won an award and was read on the radio in Salt Lake City....
