A MEMORY OF YOU

Getting to know you is exhilarating. Tentatively I reach out with a smile, a word, a touch. Your response amazes, amuses, astounds me. I turn that which I have gleaned over and over in my mind as I match the pieces of the puzzle that will reveal the real you to me. I cannot help wondering what I will find; or how much time I have to enjoy you. You came into my life at a time when I needed something good. For that, I will be eternally grateful and I know that one day, when I’m old and grey and senile, in some small lucid recess of my mind a happy memory will linger. A memory of a very special person. A person who took the time to care, to listen, to reach out and understand. A person with the capacity to warm a soul that had grown cold. A memory of you…
