A Night Spent on Borrowed Time
A Night Spent On Borrowed Time Every Friday night I wait for Saturday morning. Every page I turn becomes a new phenomena of boring. The world is nothing but broken eggshells; That I tread to death. I haven’t brushed my teeth in days. The staleness of my tongue and the mould under my skin makes me want to run and Hide; a hermit in a hole that never ends. Calling out to myself I echo Back again. There’s never a moon I forgot the stars The sky has gone to bed, But I’m still wide awake Too woo, too woo, My owl’s eyes see my prey And I swoop; on the unsuspecting pizza quivering with fear, lying flat against the Bottom of the fridge. Last; I swallow the tail of mozzarella and cluck in delight. And I echo back again, and I echo back again That annoying thing that never ends… What was it again? But I can’t remember And the wheel turns round The cycle never ends and I echo back again A different world, A different life. Another reality, Another strife. It’s all just a miscellaneous label and a fist full of here you go, This is the way the world works. Now you’ve been told once don’t screw this up Or you’ll be back where you came from…. Where did I come from? And where the fiddlesticks are we all going? I’m not too sure I want to get there To where? Too woo? And I echo back again through the tunnel that I’ll never leave Because the world is full of thieves and disease and dried peas that will bruise my body… And I want to stay in my hole And I echo back again what I will never know And I echo back again all the random thoughts And philosophies that come to me in my night -day dreams At just past a quarter to three and now its Saturday morning…. And I don’t want it to be. gwendolen09
