POEM FOR AVA * As I gaze in your eyes and your sweetlittle face, I wonder what's in store for you in your life? * Tea parties, jump ropes Hopscotch and jacks And trying very hard Not to break your dad’s heart * With dresses and proms, long talks on the phone, those up-all-night parties, to laugh and carry on * All ribbons and lace And long black curls And the boys who will long to all drive you home * But rely on yourself and do not be swayed by those who may promise to come to your aid * But be your own person to thy own self be true for none will care more about Ava than you. * Just make your own life And rely on your strengths And keep your mind focused on the journey you’ll face * For the road will be long And distractions are many But do not be tempted By things unintended * Just believe in your self And don’t ever waiver Don’t listen to voices of self-critical failure * May your trials be short And your joys be many And never forget The words that I tell you. * Love Grandma Fair
