A Reflection
I look at you and see me staring back So clearly The light shines through you like sun rays through a cloud And strikes the ground, not at an angle, but directly You are so like me that I sometimes find myself wondering If I'm not looking at something from my past No one understands you better than me I've felt the same way as you I've laughed and cried Just as you do I know your future and your past I know you just as well as you know yourself Maybe even better I see things in you that I find in myself The good and the bad I can see them in you as I see them in me Then I open my eyes And find I'm looking in a mirror It's myself that I'm looking at Myself without any protective shell Without the wisdom that comes with age I see myself as I was Innocent Shy Perhaps a bit lonely I see myself the way I am The way I was I see my soul In that mirror I see ME!
