ADIEU
ADIEU (Dedicated to a mentor who died so many nights ago) “See you tomorrow” your last lie; You eloped with the night Before the clouded dawn arrived Like a novice in love bereaved, Shedding heavy, stormy tears Discrediting the weary weepers A delight to your dying garden, Dense with wisteria, an ignored virgin. Once in your grave alone, covered And distance, we soberly recovered; Where beers were abundant Maids useful and flowers important We forgot the lesson imposed: Your departure ours assured.
