Afflicted
wedged between aquatic serpents and a sky black as misery lay dinghies moored to death since the wind went berserk stirred nothing, but plankton and pitiful pickings the sea could muster enticing blinded fools brave, stubborn enough to venture beyond the twists of tides and reefs with silent prayers hoping that God may somehow forgive their ignorance in time they too shall return with weaving tales of bountiful mermaids drowning their woes in ebony ale and yesterday’s overly cooked fish tale stew
