AFRICA I (pt1)

My heart is aching My love is shaking I feel Africa breaking Creaking from the hating we exchange at each other like bartered trading Guns and knives, knives and guns The picture is so bloody I paint it through poems Who am I to speak of the right and wrongs? So my expression is the quest for truth It got me hostage for confession like phone booth I’m ready to shoot my heart out under oath I stand raise my right hand address the people of the land I’m not sure if we as the people understand The future and its generation is getting lost So I show my concern I Come direct and put my point across For long we fought till we forgot our cause For freedom we fought just to leave by laws One nation sectioned like clause Some sleep on cold concrete floors while others spring on summer tours Life is like locked behind doors To live it you’ve got to own a key To eat and drink you pay a fee So we steal just to escape poverty Look at me My country has turned a blind eye on me I’m angry take it out on my society If I go to prison at list I won’t go hungry If I die I’ll be saved from this world of misery Schools feeding me the hope Education not tertiary enough to get me a job I come out with a degree that won’t buy me bread in the shop My tears drop and the seed develop I sweat helping the plant grow up Just to see the few on top rip the crop My point is The Rand gets strong and the nation is proud but lives are just not getting better for the crowd
